Aldershot Town appoint new manager

Aldershot Town have announced Danny Searle as their new manager.

He takes the role of first-team coach at the EBB Stadium after Gary Waddock left the Shots earlier this month.

The 41-year-old joins from Braintree Town, who were relegated from the National League last season alongside the Shots.

Searle had originally joined Braintree as assistant manager and before that had coached in the academies of Charlton Athletic, Chelsea, Southend United and lastly at West Ham United where he worked as Head of Coaching.

Speaking at the EBB Stadium this afternoon, Searle said:

"The family were talking about the Mascot the other day and it's the Phoenix because of this rebirth of the club. That's a credit to the community that has managed to do that.

"You want to feel part of the family and this feels like a family club. And from that perspective it was a no brainer."
