Taking Spectrum ice for the first time as Patton Conference Champions, the Flames tilted the ice in the opening frame to grab a 2 goal lead and never looked back, just missing a 2nd consecutive Travis Fullerton shutout and closing a 5-1 win over Milton Keynes Lightning.

Jesse Craige kicked off the evening’s scoring in the 13th minute and Evan Janssen followed up a couple of minutes after that to help the home team to a 2-0 lead at the break.

In the middle frame, they added a couple more thanks to Jamie Crooks at 23:05 and Joshua Waller before the midway point.

At 47:17, and just seconds after stepping out of the penalty box, Ben Davies took a Kruise Reddick feed alone on Patrick Killeen and buried the club’s 5th of the evening.  Inside the last 5 minutes, Tim Wallace spoiled Travis Fullerton’s bid for back to back clean sheets when he converted a faceoff win to make it a 5-1 final.

“We played with a lot of energy tonight,” said Paul Dixon, “and we rolled lines which gave a bit more ice time to some guys who have not played as much recently.”

“We have had some good outcomes lately, and some exciting moments in terms of a trophy and securing a Cup final spot, so we are on a bit of a confident run at the moment.”

“We only have one game this weekend, so hopefully we can enjoy a bit more rest than we have been used to, and be ready Sunday when a very good Glasgow Clan team stops in at Spectrum.”
