Ex-Bradford City player appointed as new Woking boss

Woking Football Club have appointed former Bradford City defender Alan Dowson as their new manager, with Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler as his assistant.

The 47 year-old joins the club from Hampton & Richmond Borough where he took charge for three seasons, most recently guiding the side to the play-offs in the 2017/18 season.

Born in Gateshead, Dowson played as a defender for a number of clubs including Millwall, Bradford City and Darlington.

He joins the Cards following their relegation to the National League South in the 2017/18 season.

Lifelong Woking fan Martin Tyler will be Dowson's assistant, having worked with him at Hampton & Richmond and Kingstonian.

It is understood that another coach will be joining too.
