The Guildford Flames have added a new face to their roster with the signing of Canadian Jordan Abt.

Abt will make his first appearance outside of North America after spending 61 games last season with the Norfolk Admirals of the East Coast Hockey League.

On the move he said: "I am very excited for the opportunity to play in Guildford this upcoming season.

“I’ve heard nothing but good things and am looking forward to the start of the season to help the team build on their success from last season.”

In 108 games at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, including a pair of seasons alongside Flames forward John Dunbar, the 26 year old recorded 34 goals and 101 points.

Flames head coach Paul Dixon said: “Jordan is an excellent defenceman and can have an impact on every aspect of the game.

“He can really skate and deal with the puck, but is also a good size guy who can handle the more physical parts of the game.

“When he has been put in situations where he has the opportunity to play a skilled role he has really excelled, and we are very excited to have made such a high quality addition to our blue line group.”
