4-1 home win for Flames against Coventry Blaze

Three goals in the last period secured a victory for Flames against Coventry on Sunday (4th March).

After a scoreless opening frame, Ben Davies kicked off the goal count just a few minutes into the second.

However, a 2 on 1 conversion by Marc-Olivier Vallerand at the end of a Blaze penalty levelled the game at 1-1 around the halfway mark.

Soon into the third period, Brett Ferguson scored a goal for the home team.

At 48:01 the Flames finished another zone entry with a goal from Jesse Craige.

And finally, just one minute afterwards Rhett Rachinski buried the final goal to secure the win.

Head Coach Paul Dixon said: "The key part of the game was the first period where we escaped without giving up any goals when Coventry had the best part of possession, the best of the chances, and could have easily been in front at the break.

"Chris was there every time in that opening period so we didn't ever have to play from behind, and that really put us in a position to turn it around a bit and bring a bit more pressure later in the game.

"We got better the deeper we went into the night, and we finally found a way to break through with some well-timed scoring in the 3rd.

"It was a big win in the conference, and now we need to turn the page this week to look ahead to next weekend's visit to Milton Keynes and then at Coventry."

The Flames will be playing against Coventry again next weekend.
