Aldershot winger Bernard Mensah joins Bristol Rovers

(Updated 5:11pm 11th January 2018)

Aldershot Town's Bernard Mensah has joined Bristol Rovers for an undisclosed fee.

He signs for the League One club after making 64 appearances for The Shots, scoring 17 goals.

Mensah joined Aldershot from Watford in June 2016, having previously made two first-team appearances for The Hornets.

Separately, the 23 year-old previously played under current Shots manager Gary Waddock during a loan spell at Barnet.

Chief Executive Laura Smith said: "Bernard was keen to play at a higher level and Gary Waddock didn't want to stand in his way, especially as he would be out of contract in May.

"We only received Rovers' offer this week and wanted a swift resolution."

Mensah often lit up The EBB Stadium with his creative play, and who could forget this belter in the 2016/17 Play-Off Semi-Final against Tranmere Rovers...

The charismatic winger was also involved in a number of off-the-ball activities at the club.

In January 2017, he performed as lead singer during a team day out to Aldershot's Rock and Pop Foundation.

More recently, Mensah joined other players at the club in contributing to break a World Record.

Along with Aspire Defence Services and members of the public, they broke the record for the Most Electrical Energy Produced by Pedalling on Static Bicycles for 24 Hours.

Following his signing for Bristol Rovers, Mensah took to Twitter to thank staff, players and fans for his time at the club.

Aldershot Town Football Club have thanked Bernard for his efforts with the club and say they wish him well for the future.
