Guildford Flames ended Cardiff Devils' 13 game winning streak with a 3-2 win in overtime on Saturday night (6 January).

John Dunbar won it for the home side in front of a sold out Spectrum crowd.

League leaders Cardiff had gone 1-0 in the first period in what was an exciting night on the ice, but goals from Brett Ferguson Ian Watters kept Guildford in the match before Dunbars late winner, his 13th goal of the season.

“They are not in the league lead by accident." said Head Coach Paul Dixon.

"They move the puck around probably as well as or better than anyone, they created some great scoring chances, and they easily could have won tonight instead of us."

“Chris had a terrific game at the back and made some unbelievable stops to keep us right there, and we were able to close the deal on a couple of our better chances, including John’s beauty in overtime, to grab a win.”

Guildford are back on the ice on Sunday evening night against Manchester.

Face off is at 5:30pm.
