Guildford Flames beaten by Braehead after Edinburgh thrashing

Published at 5:01pm 13th November 2017.

After a 7-0 thrashing of Edinburgh on Saturday the Guildford Flames were beaten 3-2 away to Braehead on Sunday.

Goals from Ackered, Watters, Lidhammar, Ferguson, Dunbar and Davies impressed a sold out Spectrum on Saturday.

It was the perfect way to bounce back from last weekend's loss to Coventry, something that was important to Head Coach Paul Dixon.

He said: "We didn’t play well last weekend and we know that. It was important for us to put the taste of that fully behind us with a good win in our next effort, so this result has a bit of extra meaning in that regard."

However this extraordinary performance could not be repeated on Sunday in the away match against Braehead.

Guildford threw away a two goal lead to end up losing 3-2.

Braehead clawed the scoring back to 2-2, before snatching a winner in the third period.

Paul Dixon said: "It is always hard to take when you are a few minutes from a regulation point, especially that far out on the road, and then go away with nothing.

“It was a pretty even game, and we played well in the 1st period right up to late in the 2nd when the lead disappeared.  Braehead did take control more in the later stages, and they did a good job to secure a win in a game that was open for either team to grab.”

“We will be frustrated for a period of time on the journey back, no question, but we can’t sit on that for too long.”

“We will try to look at the areas where we faltered and see if we can improve at MK in a few days.”
