Guildford Flames match abandoned after 20 minutes

Published at 8:11am 30th October 2017.

Guildford Flames' game against Dundee Stars on Sunday (October 29) evening was abandoned after 20 minutes.

The score was level at 2-2 when players had to exit the ice due to an ice fault.

The club has since apologised and says season ticket holders have been contacted.

All ticket purchasers for the game will be contacted by Spectrum Box Office to make ticketing arrangements.

It followed a 3-2 over time win against the Scottish side on Saturday.

After Carl Ackered opened the scoring for the flames in the first period, Guildford found themselves 2-1 down in the third period.

Jesse Craige netted the equaliser though, before Rhett Rachinski bagged the winner.

Assistant Coach Milos Melicherik said: "Even after the long journey we had a great start to the game which is not easy on these trips.

"I felt that we could have been ahead by even more after the first period, but they had excellent goaltending all night.

"Dundee stepped it up a bit in the 2nd, and their powerplay did a good job to make sure it was tied after 40 minutes.

"Despite going down in the 3rd, we kept at it and kept the pressure on and got the break we needed to get it to overtime."
