Extra security at Surrey cricket match after arrow fired

Published at 3:38pm 11th September 2017.

There will be extra security at Surrey County Cricket Club's home match on Tuesday.

It is after an arrow was fired onto the field at the Oval last month.

The match against Middlesex had to be abandoned due to security concerns, when the metal-tipped arrow landed on the pitch.

Fans were evacuated from stands, while players were ordered off the pitch.

There were no reported injuries and police said it is believed the projectile came from outside the ground.

Surrey face Yorkshire at the Oval on Tuesday.
