Aldershot sign former Crawley Town left-back

Published at 4:16pm 4th August 2017.

One day before the 2017/18 season gets underway, Aldershot Town have completed the signing of ex-Crawley Town left-back Chris Arthur.

The 27 year-old made 12 appearances for Crawley last season, having joined from Woking in June 2016.

Arthur has also played for Havant and Waterlooville, Northampton Town and Rotherham United, after beginning his career at Queen's Park Rangers.

He can also play as a left-winger and will wear shirt number 20.

On signing for the Shots, he said: "I’ve played with quite a few of the boys before and I’ve known the gaffer for a long time, since I was a teenager, so it was a bit of a no-brainer for me.

"I’ve always wanted to work with him again and he was a massive factor.

“He developed me and got me playing at quite a few levels up. I enjoyed being coached by him and I’d like to take that opportunity again.

“I was surprised at how young the squad is, I’m actually one of the older boys which is a first for me, but it’s a good squad and hopefully we can push on this season.

"It’s an ambitious squad but they did well last season and I don’t see why we can’t go past the Play-Offs this year. The squad looks really sharp and really good so I’ve got high expectations.”

Aldershot Town's first game of the season is against FC Halifax Town tomorrow (5 August).
