Flames sign Canadian forward Rachinski

Published at 4:49pm 18th July 2017.

25 year-old Canadian forward Rhett Rachinski will join Guildford Flames ahead of the 2017/18 Elite League move.

Signing from the University of Alberta Golden bears, he scored 17 goals and had 29 assists in 115 college hockey starts.

He previously played for Canadian Major Junior hockey side Edmonton Oil Kings, where he helped the club win the Western Hockey League title in 2011/12.

After signing for the Flames he said: "I am definitely excited to join the Flames for the coming season.

"We are going to have a number of guys who are familiar with each other and hopefully that will give us a bit of a head start on coming together as a group.”

Head Coach Paul Dixon said: "Rhett is a hard-nosed forward who will not take a shift off.

"He is a good skater, and not only can play centre or wing, but can also play up and down the line-up to suit different situations.

"He comes from a very successful that tends to breed highly competitive players who look out for team objectives.  We are looking forward to his presence in our lineup both on and off the ice."
