Woking FC appoint new manager

Published at 8:19pm 7th May 2017.

Woking Football Club have appointed ex-Southampton coach Anthony Limbrick as their new first team manager for the 2017/18 season.

It comes three days after the club announced that ex-manager, Garry Hill and assistant, Steve Thompson would not be offered new contracts.

The Cards finished 18th in the Vanarama National League, three points above the relegation zone.

So who is the new boss? Limbrick coached at Southampton for six years after working at the FA.

While he was with the south coast club he worked alongside the likes of Nigel Adkins, Mauricio Pochettino and Ronald Koeman, before being selected as the England U17 assistant coach.

After this role Limbrick moved to West Ham United to coach the older age groups and is currently completing his UEFA Pro Licence.

In a statement the club said: "Geoff Chapple will continue in his role, working very closely with Anthony, and bringing his unique skills, knowledge and experience to the team. Other appointments will be made in due course.

"Both Anthony and Geoff will be on the panel for the second half of the Fans’ Forum at the club on Wednesday evening."
