Aldershot Town take on Tranmere in fight to keep promotion dreams alive

Aldershot Town are fighting to keep their promotion dreams alive today (May 6).

They're away to Tranmere Rovers in the second leg of their play-off semi-final.

It won't be easy though as the Shots go into this one already 3-0 down, after defeat to the Merseyside club on Wednesday.

Tranmere went 1-0 up after just three minutes, before adding two goals in the second half.

Speaking after that match, manager Gary Waddock said: "For the young group of players it probably deflated them, it deflated the crowd in many ways because we normally get off to a good start.

"Two mistakes have cost us really. You get punished against good teams and that's what Tranmere are.

"It's going to be difficult and it's going to be a big crowd there (Tranmere).

"Our fans have been excellent as well and unfortunately we're going into the second line with a difficult scoreline and as I've said they're in a strong position.

"But why should we play with any fear up there? We're 3-0 down, we just go up there and play.

"You never know in football, we may get an early goal.

"They'll have a big crowd there, we're not giving up by any stretch of the imagination but you have to say Tranmere are in a very, very strong position."

Kick off at Tranmere's Prenton Park is at 12:15.
