Surrey Scorchers' Comic Relief marathon

Surrey Scorchers' Comic Relief marathon

Published at 6:02am 24th March 2017.

Surrey's basketball team is doing its bit for Comic Relief today... as it takes to the court for a marathon session.

In a first for the Surrey Scorchers, the club is shooting hoops for 24 hours to raise funds for the charity.

Our very own Peter Gordon's starting it all off at midday - by taking part in the walking basketball.

Guildford's mayor will also be there...

Assistant coach Dan Gayle tells us Gordon Jackson will hopefully be joining in during the first team's session: "I am trying my best to see if I can take a kit in his size and see if he can play with the big boys but I don't know - I haven't asked just going to spring it as a surprise."

He says there is something for everyone: "Especially through the sport of basketball that is accessible to a lot of different people - and comic relief is a really good cause to promote sport and help out those in need."
