Woking take on Southport on Saturday in the Vanarama National League.

It is a crucial game for the Cards, who are currently 19th in the table on 33 points.

Visitors Southport are 22nd with 30 points and have lost their last four matches, conceding 14 goals in the process.

Despite the Sandgrounders poor run in form, Cards Assistant Manager Steve Thompson is expecting a touch encounter.

He said: "They know the situation that they are in, they will be a wounded animal after four straight defeats.

"They will come here thinking that they have to get something, so there is no doubt - that they are dangerous."

Victory for Woking could see them move six points clear of the relegation zone, depending on other results and Thompson is adamant that they must start climbing up the table.

He said: "It's very important to start building some momentum, our following league game is against Forest Green and we want to go into that game knowing that whatever the result is - we can't be hauled into the bottom four.

Woking vs Southport kicks off at 3pm, on Saturday February 18th at the Kingfield Stadium.
