Flames achieve 3 out of 4 points at the start of the season

Published at 8:37am 14th September 2015.

It was a defeat for the Flames as they went down 3-2 away to Basingstoke Bison.

Kurt Reynolds bagged the winner just under 2 minutes into the tie breaking period.

However the Flames won 5 -1 at home against newcomers Hull Pirates on Sunday (13 September) leaving them with a 3 point total.

Head Coach Paul Dixon said:

"Basingstoke came hard in the first 10 minutes, but I thought we defended that very well.

"We got stronger over the course of the deeper parts of the game and for the most part I felt we were the dominant team.

"Overall I am happy with the performance and with getting at least a point in a tough road building.

"In our view, we did enough to win that game, but we didn't finish some good chances to make that happen.

"I don't think there was any question we were the better team on Sunday night, and it was great to break out some early season scoring and convert it to a win.

"3 points of 4 in the season opening weekend is a good start, and we will look to make adjustments this week in training ahead of Peterborough's visit on Saturday and a trip to Manchester Sunday."
