Woking suffered a 1-0 defeat at Tranmere on the opening day of the new National League season as Jay Harris' twenty-yard strike proved the difference between the two sides.

Harris found the top corner in the 58th minute to break the deadlock for the recently relegated Rovers after a nervy first-half.

Woking substitute Giuseppe Sole had a chance to equalise late on, but his free-kick could only find the crowd at Prenton Park.

The Cards were also dealt another blow after striker Scott Rendell was forced off with a suspected knee injury.

Gary Hill will be hoping for better from his side when they host Bromley on Tuesday (11 August) night.
