Leisure centres reopen today in Fleet and Yateley

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 12:29pm 31st July 2020.

Leisure centres in North East Hampshire have partly reopened today (31 July), after the government lifted restrictions last weekend.

Gyms and group exercise activities are once again up and running at Hart Leisure Centre in Fleet and Frogmore Leisure Centre in Yateley.

The swimming pool facilities at Hart Leisure Centre will be open from tomorrow (1 August).

Everyone Active, which runs the centres in partnership with Hart District Council, says procedures are in place for social distancing and the facilities will undergo regular cleaning.

Luke Charlton, Everyone Active's contract manager, said:

"We're very much looking forward to reopening the centres and welcoming back the local community.

"Giving people the opportunity to resume activity and exercise in their leisure centre will go a long way to maintaining the good health of local communities.

"Ensuring our colleagues and customers remain safe is our number one priority and we have carefully considered the strict measurements to ensure we adhere to the guidance."

Councillor James Radley, Deputy Leader of Hart District Council and Cabinet member for Leisure Centres, added:

"The Council is delighted that residents can now enjoy our leisure centres once again.

"We know customers have missed taking part in their regular exercise so it is great news that the doors have opened today.

"This follows additional funding from the Council to help EA manage our leisure centres through this period of unprecedented challenges.

"We are sure that all users will act responsibly so that other customers and staff can have a safe and positive experience."
