Father and son kicked and punched during attempted robbery in Godalming

Police are appealing for witnesses after a father and son were punched and kicked during an attempted robbery in Godalming. 

On 21 June  the victims were walking along the High Street at around 12:30am on their way home from visiting friends when the three suspects approached them and asked for cigarettes,

The pair kept on walking and the suspects followed them. 

The suspects stopped and demanded money from the victims on Bridge Street between Waitrose and the Council Cinema building.

They then attacked the father and son kicking and punching them as police arrived at the scene.

One suspect fled the scene while two others an 18 year old from Havant and a 17 year old from Haslemere were arrested and released under investigation. 

The suspect who left is described as:

  • A white man
  • In his late teens
  • Around 5ft 11"
  • Slim build
  • No facial hair.
  • He was wearing a white baseball cap and a dark jacket.
