Police shut down illegal camp in Camberley used for drug activity

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 11:53am 29th June 2020.

Police have seized a knuckle duster, a bong and a discarded spanner following the discovery of an illegal camp in Camberley over the weekend.

Officers went to the site on old Dean Common on Saturday (27 June) and a large amount of rubbish and some drug paraphernalia was cleared.

Surrey Heath Police say the area was not used by the homeless and the camp was being used for drug activity and antisocial behaviour.

Neighbourhood Specialist Officers PC Hudson and PC Finnegan with the assistance of the chairman of the Heathland Conservation Society dismantled and removed the illegal den that was set up.

Camps like this are illegal on old Dean Common and police are asking anyone to report any further sightings if another den is set up in the area.
