Bomb disposal called out to Aldershot

Police are currently in attendance in Aldershot following the discovery of a suspected explosive.

Officers were called shortly before midday after the device was found in an area of roadworks near to Wellington Roundabout.

The A325 Farnborough Road is closed in both directions from Clubhouse Road to A323 Wellington Avenue. 

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said in a statement: 

"We were called at 11.39am following the discovery of a suspected piece of unexploded ordnance in an area of roadworks near to Wellington Roundabout, Aldershot.

"Road closures and traffic diversions are currently in place in the area, and police are liaising with the MOD’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team."
