Man assaults and threatens to stab Camberley supermarket security worker

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 3:54pm 18th June 2020.

Surrey Police say they will continue to support shop workers after many stores have reported assaults or threatening behaviour towards staff during the coronavirus pandemic.

One incident in Camberley on 15 April saw a Sainsbury's security worker assaulted by a male who threatened to stab him while he was being removed from the supermarket for breaching COVID-19 guidelines.

He has since been identified and issued with a youth intervention.

In a post on Facebook Surrey Heath Police said:

"The Surrey Heath Neighbourhood Team have been regularly attending supermarkets across Surrey Heath to provide reassurance for staff and customers during the pandemic.

"Many stores across Surrey have experienced similar threats and assaults recently from customers.

"Surrey Police will continue to support all our stores and ask that you respect these key workers by following the store guidelines during this difficult time.
