Guildford firefighters get running for charity

Published by Lettie Buxton at 6:00am 7th June 2020.

A team of eight Guildford firefighters will be running 100 kilometres today (7 June) for charity.

They will be doing it outside the front of the station on a treadmill, during their 12 hour day shift.

The crew is raising money for Surrey's Coronavirus Response Fund and The Fire Fighters Charity, which helps sick and injured firefighters and their families.

They have already smashed their fundraising target of £500, with donations totaling £625.

The team were set to take on the challenge last Sunday (31 May), but crews had to make their way to Thursley Common to tackle the huge fire.

Donations can be made online.
