Major improvements for Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 5:40pm 5th June 2020.

Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre is undergoing major upgrade of its facilities which will last through to the end of October.

The centre is currently closed in line with government guidance due to Covid-19, but will be formally shut from 30 July to 31 October for improvements.

These include a new wooden sprung flooring system in the sports hall, replacement of glazing and lights and various utilities works..

A new boom - which enables the water depth to be adjusted for training and competitive events - will be installed in the 50m swimming pool.

As Covid-19 restrictions are eased and phased works are completed, the Sports Centre will operate staggered openings for the squash courts, the gym and sports hall.

The pool will be shut until 31 October as the works are more complex, equire draining and refilling the tank.

External facilities - which are also currently closed during lockdown - will not be affected by the works.

James Smee, Manager of Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre (ADSL), said:

"We would like to thank all our customers for their continued patience and understanding throughout lockdown and during these works, which are vital to ensure the continued efficient operation of the Sports Centre and to enhance its through-life performance.

"We will ensure regular communication with our customers throughout this programme regarding any changes in accessing our  facilities, in line with completion of the works and the latest public health advice."
