Woman sexually assaulted in broad daylight at park in Haslemere

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 6:15am 3rd June 2020. (Updated at 6:19am 3rd June 2020)

Police are searching for a suspect after a woman was sexually assaulted at a park in Haslemere.

It happened yesterday afternoon (2 June) between 4:20pm and 4:50pm at Lion Green, when she was approached and groped by a man in nearby woodland.

She  shouted at him and ran back to her friends in the park, before calling police.

A large contingent of officers search the area, but did not find the man responsible.

Officers think he might have been hanging around the green for some time - and want to speak to anyone who was there between 1pm and 5pm yesterday afternoon who might have seen someone acting suspiciously.

They are also asking for any photos or video taken there - which includes people in the background whom you do not know - in case you have captured an image of the suspect.

The public may notice an increased police presence in the local area as police continue their investigations.

If you know anything, you are urged to contact Surrey Police on 101, or use the "tell us about an existing case function on their website quoting reference PR/P20127535.
