Surrey and Hampshire take part in final clap for carers

People across Surrey and Hampshire joined in the tenth and final Clap for our Carers last night (28 May).

The national tribute has taken place every Thursday evening at 8pm, with people clapping and banging on pots and pans from their doorsteps, windows and gardens in support of all health and care workers during the coronavirus pandemic.

But, founder of the event, Annemarie Plas, said the tenth week of clapping would be the last as lockdown restrictions begin to ease.

There are, however, plans to introduce an annual national event titled 'Clap For Our Carers Day' on 25 March, 2021, to mark the first anniversary of the initial applause.
