No serious injuries after HGV hit broken down van on M3

Surrey Road Police say it is 'amazing' nobody was seriously injured after an HGV hit a broken down van on the M3. 

The stretch of motorway between Junction 2 and Junction 3 near Lightwater was temporarily shut while emergency services attended. 

Surrey Fire and Rescue attended as a vehicle was on fire. 

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesperson told Eagle Radio two ambulance attended this collision.

Two people have been assessed and treated at the scene, one was taken to Frimley and the other to Guildford's Royal Surrey. 

At 1:20pm this afternoon Surrey Police began reopening the M3 at Junction 3. 

Lanes one and two remain closed until the carriageway has been repaired.
