Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 6:00am 25th May 2020.

A 24/7 running relay started by a Bookham man has raised over £20,000 for charity.

Among around 400 runners to have signed up and taken part are BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin and Olympic athlete Jo Pavey.

The Indoor Relay has been going non-stop since it started on 2 May under lockddown, with it coming to an end on Saturday evening (30 May).

Volunteers can walk or run the one-hour leg within the boundary of their home.

The team has so far covered over 1800 miles around their sofa, balcony, garden or driveway with all monies raised split equally between NHS Charities Together, NSPCC, Mind, Children with Cancer UK and Women’s Aid.

Bookham resident Mike Seaman who started it said:

“When we started the Indoor Relay we really hoped to be able to raise £10k and have been completely blown away by the support from the running community.

"We have had so much fun and learned so much chatting to people as they take on their leg, people have really got into the spirit dressing up and taking on even more challenges during their stint to get more donations in."
