Coronavirus: Surrey hospital trust deaths rise by nine to 1,068

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 3:04pm 21st May 2020.

A total of nine more patients being treated at NHS trusts with hospitals in Surrey have died after testing positive for COVID-19.

It means there have now been 1,068 confirmed deaths relating to coronavirus at the trusts with hospitals in the county.

It is not clear exactly how many of those deaths have been in Surrey, as some of the trusts also have other sites based outside of the county. NHS England only publishes figures for deaths by hospital trust.

Across England 187 more people have died in hospital after contracting the virus, bringing the total to 25,266.

In a statement NHS England said:

"A further 187 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 25,266.

"Patients were aged between 14 and 98 years old.

"Six of the 187 patients (aged between 46 and 94) had no known underlying health condition.

"Their families have been informed."
