Coronavirus: Surrey hospital trust deaths rise by seven to 1,057

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 3:12pm 19th May 2020.

A total of seven more patients being treated at NHS trusts with hospitals in Surrey have died after testing positive for COVID-19.

It means there have now been 1,057 confirmed deaths relating to coronavirus at the trusts with hospitals in the county.

It is not clear exactly how many of those deaths have been in Surrey, as some of the trusts also have other sites based outside of the county. NHS England only publishes figures for deaths by hospital trust.

Across England 174 more people have died in hospital after contracting the virus, bringing the total to 24,913.

In a statement NHS England said:

"A further 174 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 24,913.

"Patients were aged between seven and 102 years old.

"Six of the 174 patients (aged between 45 and 90) had no known underlying health condition.

"Their families have been informed."

Figures for those having recovered from coronavirus in the UK have not been made available.

Two more were confirmed at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals, while East Surrey Hospital saw an increase of one.
