Hampshire Police want to speak to two boys after two heath fires.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue were called out to Eversley Common and Yateley Common yesterday (14 May) to fires out in the open.

A spokesperson for the police told Eagle Radio that members of the public spoke to boys at around lunchtime who appeared to be setting light to a bush on Yateley Common, on the Vigo Lane side, they extinguished the fire when asked.

The boys police would like to speak to in connection with the incident are described as

  • Around 15 years old
  • White
  • One is described as being tall and slim, with a pale complexion and wearing a white tracksuit top.
  • The other is described as being noticeably shorter, with light or ginger hair and a ruddy complexion.

Crews from Hartley Wintney, Fleet, Yateley, Rushmoor and Camberley were mobilised at 13:18  to Yateley Common to tackle the blaze.

There were approximately five hectares of common land on fire.

At 21:13 the same day there was a small fire in the open on Eversley Common around 15m x 15m of gorse and heathland was alight and extinguished

It is believed both fires were started deliberately.
