One migrant has been arrested after he was found in a lorry on the A31 at Farnham this morning (11 May).

Surrey Police said in a statement they received a call from the driver of the lorry at around 10am reporting that he could hear someone on board.

The vehicle was stopped by officers at the BP petrol station on the Farnham bypass.

One clandestine migrant, a man believed to be in his 20s from Eritrea in Northeast Africa, was located within the lorry and arrested at the scene.

No-one else was found when officers carried out the search.

Police say enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
