A restored Tommy soldier will be returned to its usual place in a Surrey park today (7 May), ahead of the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

It was vandalised at Cedar Park in Sunbury on 19 March, according to Spelthorne Borough Council.

The borough council is urging anyone who saw or heard anything to contact them on 01784 451499.

Spelthorne Borough Council has arranged a variety of virtual celebrations for VE Day, from an online exhibition to an account from a World War Two veteran.
