Surrey County Council explain which recycling centres are set to reopen and when

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 12:24pm 5th May 2020.

Recycling centres will begin to reopen in Surrey with social distancing measures in place.

The County Council say there will be a phased reopening of most of the sites from Monday 11 May.

However, restrictions will be in place to keep staff and residents safe.

Recycling centres that will remain closed:

  • Bagshot
  • Caterham
  • Cranleigh
  • Dorking
  • Warlingham

Some smaller sites will remain shut as fewer people can be there safely and because of the impact of potential queuing on surrounding roads.

Rules for using Surrey's recycling centres:

  • Staff and visitors must obey social distancing at all times- all site users must adhere to the two metre social distancing rules
  • Only one person per vehicle should travel to the site- only one person will be allowed outside their vehicles once they have arrived at the recycling centre
  • You must remain in your vehicles while queuing,
  • No help will be given by staff to remove items from your vehicle so only bring what you can carry.
  • Do not visit the site if you are self-isolating
  • If anyone in your household has had COVID-19 symptoms waste must be left for 72 hours before being brought to the site and it should be double bagged.
  • During the first reopening phase you can only bring black bag waste and garden waste.
  • You can bring your waste in a car- no vans, pickups or trailers will be allowed into the sites.
