Farnham parish hosting online service to thank NHS and key workers

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 3:52pm 30th April 2020.

A Farnham parish is hosting an online church service this evening (30 April) to pay tribute to frontline workers, with a local MP taking part.

The Parish of Badshot Lea and Hale, which incorporates  three churches serving the north of Farnham - St George's in Badshot Lea, and St John's and St Mark's in Hale - will be offering prayers and thanks for the NHS and carers, and other key workers, from 7pm.

South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt will be reading the Lord's Prayer.

Mayor of Farnham Cllr Pat Evans will also read a prayer.

The service will include music, pictures of artwork, videos and pictures of key workers.

Reverend Lesley Crawley, joint rector of the Parish of Badshot Lea and Hale, explained the thinking behind the service:

"We are living in extraordinary times, like nothing any of us have experienced before.

"As we navigate our way through them we want to seek God's guidance and strength, particularly for those who are suffering and those who are working on the frontline in hospitals and care settings, and other key workers who are keeping the country going.

"And we want to give thanks for everyone who is working so hard across the world and in our own community."
