Aldershot police break up house party during lockdown

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 12:57pm 29th April 2020.

Fines have been issued by police in Aldershot to people who keep breaking lockdown rules.

Hampshire Police say they were handed to people in the town centre and in the park areas as they continued to breach government guidelines.

On Monday (27 April) officers had to deal with a party in the North Town area and an address in the town centre, no fines were issued but advice was given to return home.

A police spokesperson told Eagle Radio:

"Our officers will continue to engage, explain and encourage members of the public to follow the restrictions.

"This will include asking whether an individual is aware of the government request; establish individual circumstances and how quickly someone can comply.

"We will also explain the risks to public health, and to the NHS in line with government guidance and encourage voluntary compliance - which includes asking people to return to their homes.

"If considered necessary, we may take enforcement action in the form of a fine if people are not listening and putting others at risk, however this is very much a last resort."
