Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 3:07pm 23rd April 2020.

A total of 17 more patients being treated at NHS trusts with hospitals in Surrey have died after testing positive for COVID-19.

It means there have now been 764 confirmed deaths relating to coronavirus at the five trusts with hospitals in the county.

It is not clear exactly how many of those deaths have been in Surrey, as some of the trusts also have other sites based outside of the county. NHS England only publishes figures for deaths by hospital trust.

A total of 18,738 patients have died in hospital after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK.

Figures for those having recovered from coronavirus in the UK have not been made available.

However, the Royal Surrey County Hospital has said 115 COVID-19 patients there have been discharged.

Across England 514 more people have died in hospital after contracting the virus, bringing that total to 16,786.

In a statement NHS England said:

"Their families have been informed."

Two more were confirmed at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals, while Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals, East Surrey Hospital and the Royal Surrey saw increases of four, two and two respectively.
