Watch as Surrey firefighter carves message for NHS workers during coronavirus outbreak

Published by Lettie Buxton at 5:13pm 21st April 2020.

A Surrey firefighter has used his lawnmower to carve out a message to healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tom Westcott used his one daily form of exercise to write 'Thank you NHS' in huge letters across a field in Peaslake, in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

He told Eagle Radio he "did a smaller one in the garden then thought, 'I could do this bigger and better'".

In a tweet, Tom wrote:

"When words on paper aren’t enough,

"Grass-roots Britain at its best,

"Thank you NHS."
