Farnborough man sentenced for spitting in a paramedic's face

A 22-year-old man has been jailed for 26 weeks after he spat in the face of a paramedic in Aldershot.

The paramedic was sat in an ambulance on Victoria Road, Aldershot, waiting for a colleague who was attending a casualty nearby when Daniel Jankovic, of Fernhill Road, Farnborough came up the ambulance and asked who was being treated.

When the paramedic refused to tell him any details, Jankovic spat in his face and the incident was caught on CCTV.

Police arrived on the scene and Jankovic ran away onto the railway line in an attempt to get away.

Jankovic was sentenced to 20 weeks for assaulting an emergency worker on Tuesday (7 April)  and was ordered to pay the victim £200 compensation when he appeared before Basingstoke Magistrates Court today (9 April).

He was also sentenced to a further six weeks for theft from a motor vehicle in Honington Mews, Farnborough.

On 31 March he was spotted breaking into a Ford Focus and stealing a £10 note from inside.

Jankovic pleaded guilty to all offences.
