Appeal launched after 76 year old's wallet stolen in Godalming

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 2:45pm 7th April 2020.

An appeal has been launched after a 76-year-old man's wallet was stolen in Godalming and his credit card used to buy mobile phones.

Police would like to speak to the man in the CCTV image in connection to the theft and fraud offences.

On 12 March at around 2.20pm, the suspect followed the victim into the toilets in Sainsbury’s on Woolsack Way in Godalming and stole his wallet.

Shortly afterwards the suspect made two withdrawals from the cash machine at Sainsbury's.

At 3.20pm, the suspect used the stolen credit card to buy two iPhones from the iStore on Friary Street in Guildford.

An hour later, the suspect attempted to make a purchase at iStore in The Peacocks Centre in Woking.

Police believe the man shown in the CCTV may be able to help them solve this crime.

He is described as in his early 40s, of medium build and bald.
