Hampshire Fire and Rescue getting more calls about bonfires and BBQs

Published by Grace Mcgachy at 3:52pm 6th April 2020.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue are asking us to be considerate of others when it comes to lighting bonfires and BBQs.

The fire service says they have been receiving a large number of calls about controlled burning.

Crews have also had to respond to several bonfires that have become unmanageable.

When lighting a bonfire take into consideration:

  • People with asthmatic issues or young children
  • Toxic fumes
  • Never leaving a fire unattended

Hampshire Fire Control tweeted to say:

"We are receiving many calls to out of control bonfires and BBQs.

"Please think about your neighbours and the unnecessary risk to our firefighters attending these types of call in this current climate."
