People across Surrey and Hampshire have taken to their doorsteps, windows and balconies to applaud NHS workers amid the coronavirus outbreak.

It was part of the national campaign 'Clap for our Carers', which saw people up and down the country join a mass round of applause last night (26 March) at 8pm.

Following the clap for carers Bridget Biddell, 2019/20 High Sheriff of Surrey, gave this message of thanks to Surrey’s NHS, Volunteers and charities:

As well as clapping, residents also cheered and banged pots and pans to show their appreciation.
