Coronavirus: 12th death at Surrey hospital

A patient diagnosed with Covid-19 has died at Frimley Park hospital.

He was in his 90s and had underlying conditions when he lost his life on Sunday (22 March).

Frimley Park NHS Foundation Trust issued a statement on their website saying the man's family has been told.

They have not released any further information.

The statement in full:

"Sadly, we can confirm today that another patient who was being cared for at Frimley Park Hospital and had tested positive for Covid-19 died on Sunday (22 March).

"The family of the man, who was in his 90s and had underlying conditions, has been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

"The trust, DHSC, NHS England and NHS Improvement will not be giving out any further information on this patient."

It brings to 12 the number of deaths at hospitals in Surrey of people who have tested positive for coronavirus.

Across the UK, the death toll in coronavirus-related cases has risen to 424.

Out of those tested, more than 8,000 people have been diagnosed with Covid-19 in the UK.

135 of them have recovered.

Confirmed cases in Hampshire are now 207 and in Surrey 110.
