Coronavirus: Surrey patient in their 90s dies as 32 more UK deaths confirmed

A patient at East Surrey Hospital has died after contracting coronavirus.

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, which manages the site in Redhill, said the man in his 90s had underlying health conditions.

Today (18 March) it was confirmed 32 more people had died after testing positive for COVID-19 - taking the total number of UK deaths to 104.

Michael Wilson CBE, chief executive of Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, said:

“Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who was being cared for at East Surrey Hospital, and tested positive for COVID-19, has died.

“The patient was in their 90s and had underlying health conditions.

“The patient’s family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.”
