Do you recognise Dennis? He's a lost hamster from Farnborough

Published by Lettie Buxton at 6:00am 15th March 2020.

The RSPCA is appealing to find the owner of a lost hamster who crawled under the door of a homeowner’s bathroom and gave him a fright.

The male Syrian hamster, who has been named Dennis by RSPCA staff, was discovered in the bathroom in a block of flats at Dever House, Coombe Way, in Farnborough on Tuesday (10 March).

The resident who spotted him contacted the animal charity when they realised he was probably a missing pet.

Animal Collection Officer Natasha Clarke said Dennis is currently at their animal centre in Surrey and will be kept for two weeks before being rehomed:

"I think the man who discovered Dennis had a bit of a fright as he crawled under his bathroom door.

"Once he realised poor Dennis was actually a lost pet he picked up the phone and gave us a call.

"Dennis is a friendly hamster who has clearly been well handled so it's very likely that someone is missing their much-loved pet.

"I asked around the estate but no one has come forward as his owner so we are now widening the net a little to see if anyone recognises him.

"If you recognise Dennis or think he is your missing pet, please contact the inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018."
