It added that people should not be alarmed as it "only affects people who had direct contact with the customer on Tuesday evening".

It is not known if the customer was one of the two patients from Surrey to have tested positive for COVID-19 or was from elsewhere.

A post on the club's Facebook page reads:

"Unfortunately a customer who visited us last Tuesday evening has been tested positive for Coronavirus.

"Under Public Health guidance we are undergoing a deep clean and will remain closed today.

"Please do not be alarmed, this only affects people who had direct contact with the customer on Tuesday evening.

"If you do have any concerns though please contact us."

Meanwhile on Saturday (29 February) a pub in Haslemere said it was closing as a "precautionary measure" after one of their customers had tested positive for the virus.

The Prince of Wales in Hammer Lane said it was undergoing "a full deep clean".
