Two Farnborough school students to be tested for Coronavirus after showing "mild flu-like symptoms"

Two Farnborough Hill school students are to be tested for Coronavirus.

It is as a precautionary measure and there have been no confirmed cases of the virus at the school - which is operating as usual.

The pair developed "mild flu-like symptoms" and have since been self-isolating, with tests to take place following NHS advice.

Earlier this week the school said pupils and staff who had attended a ski trip to Italy over half term had been asked to remain at home.

In a statement today (28 February) Farnborough Hill said:

"Two pupils exhibiting mild flu-like symptoms have been advised by the NHS to be tested for the virus as a precautionary measure, as per the government guidelines.

“The pupils in question have been at home self-isolating since these symptoms emerged.

“In the light of this development, more detailed advice has been provided for a small minority of pupils and staff who have underlying health conditions of the type identified by Public Health England as making them more vulnerable to the effects of the virus.

“Individual decisions are being made by these specific families/staff members about school attendance at this time.

“However, there is no reason to believe that there is now any increased risk to the vast majority of pupils at Farnborough Hill.”
