'Exceptionally lucky' teens escape with minor injuries after crash

Published by Grace Mcgachy at 12:44pm 21st February 2020.

Fire crews say two teenagers are 'exceptionally lucky' to have escaped a crash with only minor injuries in Hampshire.

Fire crews, paramedics and police were called shortly after midnight to the Odiham Road between Fleet and Hook outside the Pet Crematorium.

Hartley Witney Fire Station said on Facebook that the 18-year-old driver had 'self extricated' before they arrived but a passenger, also 18, was medically trapped.

Crews removed the roof before carefully removing the casualty and handing her over to the ambulance service.

The car had left the highway and rolled before landing back on its wheels on the carriageway.

"Both teenagers were exceptionally lucky to have only sustained minor injuries.

"Mum's and Dad's please share this message with your son's and daughter's.

"A moment's distraction at speed can lead to tragic outcomes.

"Thankfully, that wasn't the case this morning."
