Flood defences to go up in Guildford and Godalming

Published by Eagle Radio News Team at 7:47pm 15th February 2020.

The Environment Agency is planning to deploy temporary flood defences in Guildford and Godalming, according to a Surrey County councillor.

Matt Furniss has reported on his Facebook page that the defences are being deployed in the two towns at 9am tomorrow.

It comes in the wake of an amber warning for rain which is due to go up at 12:15am tomorrow (16 February) until 6pm tomorrow evening.

Currently a yellow warning for rain and wind is in place across Surrey and Hampshire.

Flood defences were already deployed in Leatherhead this morning with several flood alerts in place.

Road closures will reportedly be in place.
